Dialtone is a digital animation project I completed for my Time and Structure studio with Eleanor Sabin, using Adobe Premiere, Flipaclip, and Stop Motion Studio. I find the modern world of overstimulating advertisements, campaigns, and social media algorithims to be one of the most incredibly harmful, yet legal actions of companies in the modern era. In many studies, depression, lowered attention spans and cognitive decline is directly consequent to social media use, with some media distributors even featuring more ad runtime than content runtime. As such, this work is a critique of the digital epidemic, and a call to action to my generation in hopes that we will not let ourselves be defined by the symptoms of digital overstimulation.
